About Us

Welcome to the Norah Hammerheads Spearfishing Club. The foundation for the club was built on bringing families, friends and the community together for a bit of social fun and some friendly competition with the added bonus of putting some fresh and healthy seafood on the dinner table.

We focus on giving education and support to new members of all ages to the sport, teaching safety awareness and understanding the rules and regulations in regards to safe boating and legal capture of species, and promoting the sustainable sport of Spearfishing in a positive way.

The club first kicked off in early February 2024. A discussion came up between a few local mates about creating a much-needed Spearfishing club based in the northern region of the Central Coast.

The Central Coast community along with the sport of Spearfishing has grown so much over the past 10 years and it was decided that now was the time to create a northern-based club. Not only to accommodate the growing spearfishing community but also help to promote the sport of Spearfishing in a safe and positive direction through education and a friendly club environment.

The founding members were extremely motivated to bring this idea to life, so the first thing was time to start thinking of a name and where we would call home! Norah Head was a no-brainer for us, as most of the crew was from the surrounding areas, so Norah Head was locked in!

A few name ideas were floated around the crew but we all settled and agreed that the Norah Hammerheads was the best suited and that was also locked in! Now time to find a home base!

We spent a bit of time running around to all of the local venues to see who was interested in supporting our ideas for a local community club and willing to work together to help each other grow into the future. There was definitely one stand out above the rest, and that was the Norah Head Sporties!

A meeting was quickly established with the CEO of the Sporties club and not long into our talk it was mentioned they were actually searching for a new up-and-coming sporting group for them to sponsor, so a few things were thrown back and forth and we had an agreement for The Norah Head Sporties to be our first and major sponsor and soon to be our home base!

Once the club was established and all the wheels were in motion we were astounded by having over 50 financial members within the first six months of creating what was just an idea amongst a handful of very passionate spearfishers earlier that year.

Whether it’s a bit of social fun with friends, family outings, or a bit of friendly competition. The Norah Hammerheads cover all bases and we would love to catch up and welcome you to our crew.
